Fiat : Steering Wheel Evolution
Modern Fiat customers expect more at-a-glance information than ever before. Naturally this puts instrument cluster real-estate at a premium and renders conventional steering wheel controls insufficient. As a skunkworks project with Fiat, we explored steering wheel and input solutions that maximize driver visibility and control while maintaining safe driving practices.
Universal Remote
The steering wheel is an ideal touch-point for the HUD and instrument cluster, but unfortunately it also obstructs that data. We tested concepts that relocated tell-tales and explored wheel silhouettes that maximize visibility and functionality.
Control
How do you create a flexible and safe system that can evolve with Fiat’s infotainment systems? Using the wheel and full color instrument display, we were able to explore different locations and experiences for the on screen data and the physical controls.
User Testing
We used Chrysler’s state of the art driving simulator to test and validate different experiences with real world users.
